Yuk. Business women want plastic surgery

Over a quarter of women executives would consider cosmetic surgery to improve their career prospects, according to a new survey.

Research from the Aziz Corporation found that less invasive procedures met with almost universal approval. Over 90% of women said they would dye grey hair or have cosmetic dental work.

And how do male execs feel? One in five would go under the knife to improve their business prospects. Yuk.

ID card cost soars, technology fails

The government has published its bill to introduce ID cards, even though the underlying technology doesn't actually work. And, of course, the costs of the project are increasing (ID card cost soars.)

As the Guardian notes:

The price of an identity card will be higher than previously thought, the Home Office admits, as it publishes a new bill to introduce the controversial scheme.

After a trial involving 10000 volunteers, "facial verification" was the least successful technology. It managed to recogise only 69% of people. And only 48% of disabled people. Fingerprint verification worked for 81%. Iris verification was a success for 96%.

Home Office minister Tony McNulty acknowledged there would be some "teething problems" with the biometric cards.
